The Department of English Career Faculty Committee presents its Teaching Flash Talk series to highlight the outstanding teaching of our faculty.
In this virtual event, participants give a brief, five-minute talk on a teaching success or an idea-in-progress. Come and support your colleagues and hear about what they have been teaching and planning! Get some inspiration and ideas for what you might be able to implement in your own classes!
This event features:
- Sean Moxley-Kelly, Instructor in Writing Programs -- Moxley-Kelly's talk focuses on strategies for successfully using Yellowdig for discussion.
- Katie Morrissey, Assistant Professor in Film and Media Studies -- Morrissey's talk focuses on students' writing processes, including research skills and managing their use of AI tools.
- Cecilia Savala, Assistant Clinical Professor in Creative Writing -- Savala's talk focuses on ways to use high-volume, low-risk writing assignments in class to redirect students from relying on AI tools.
- Roger Thompson, Professor in Writing, Rhetorics and Literacies and Writing Programs Director -- Thompson's talk focuses on targeted assessment in grading student writing to manage teacher labor.
