From Equity Talk to Equity Walk: Translating Vision Into Practice

Event description

  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Free
  • Professional and career development

How do you translate and embed equity-minded goals and values into teaching and learning practices and strategies to support higher levels of student success? How are you building people's capacity for understanding the “how” and the “why” behind inequities in student experiences and outcomes? This discussion will highlight key principles outlined in the book “From Equity Talk to Equity Walk: Expanding Practitioner Knowledge for Racial Justice in Higher Education” by Tia Brown McNair, Estela Mara Bensimon and Lindsey Malcom-Piqueux, with a goal of providing equity-conscious, practical guidance on how to design and implement effective institutional change strategies that reflect institutional values and establish more expansive and culturally responsive campus cultures that are intentionally designed to achieve equity and student success goals.

Join a hybrid event with a Zoom webinar and in-person watch party featuring lead author Tia Brown McNair, the vice president in the Office of Diversity, Equity and Student Success and Executive Director for the Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Campus Centers at the American Association of Colleges and Universities in Washington, D.C.

Light food and refreshments will be provided at the in-person event.
