The Center for American Institutions invites ASU students to participate in a dialogue with Caroline Downey and Daniel Di Martino, Gen Zers themselves, for a conversation about how Gen Z could influence the future of American Politics.
Caroline Downey is an education and multimedia reporter at National Review. She is a former Publius Fellow with the Claremont Institute and currently editor in chief of The Conservateur, a startup digital fashion and lifestyle magazine for women. She often appears on Fox News and Fox Business, and her work has been featured in the New York Post, Newsweek, and the Washington Examiner. As an intern, Caroline represented The Heritage Foundation in a 2019 televised debate against interns from the Cato Institute. Previously, she was a portfolio analyst at the Bank of New York Mellon. She holds degrees in Economics and Political Science from Boston College.
Daniel Di Martino is a Fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a PhD candidate in Economics at Columbia University. His research focuses on immigration, especially selection, assimilation, and highly skilled immigration. Born and raised in Venezuela, Di Martino experienced the terrible consequences of socialism firsthand. After leaving Venezuela for the U.S. in 2016, he dedicated himself to explaining how socialism destroyed his homeland, advocating for its freedom, and stopping this ideology from ever being implemented in America and elsewhere. Di Martino has appeared on Fox News and CNN, and written for USA Today, National Review, City Journal and New York Post, among others. He is a regular speaker on college campuses and events across the country. He sits on the board of advisors of Young America’s Foundation‘s Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise, and he is a member of the New Jersey State Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. In addition to his economic research on immigration and his media appearances, Di Martino founded the Dissident Project to teach high school students about the evils of socialist regimes.
This event is co-sponsored by the National Review Institute
Free food will be provided after the dialogue in the Social Sciences building atrium.
