Generative Workshop Using the Poetry of Ada Limón
Event description
- Academic events
- Free
- Open to the public
Sponsored by the Center for Imagination in the Borderlands, this poetry workshop will use U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón's work to explore writing about nature and loss, using select poems from "The Carrying." The workshop will discuss the importance of using lyric imagery, line breaks, and titles to create rich, layered poetry. Participants will discuss how Ada Limón juxtaposes infertility and grief with climate anxiety, then will write using prompts inspired by "The Carrying."
The workshop is capped at 10 participants, and no pre-work or experience with poetry is required. Books will be provided to registrants.
