The History of the Future: The Truman Show
Event description
- Arts and entertainment
Join ASU's Center for Science and the Imagination in partnership with Majestic Neighborhood Cinema in Tempe to view The Truman Show on the silver screen. This screening is part of a greater film series: The History of the Future, exploring gripping, cinematic visions of the future across the past four decades.
Join us Wednesday, Oct 18. at 7 p.m. to take a step back to 1998 for a theatrical screening of The Truman Show. Visit Seahaven Island, where Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) is unaware his entire life is being filmed for a 24/7 reality television show. Watch him discover the truth about his world and break it down piece by piece.
The film will be introduced by CSI’s Communications and Public Engagement Manager, Bob Beard. Bob is co-curator for the History of the Future Film Series and specializes in taking the tools of speculative fiction and applying them to our own visions of the future.
Tickets are $8.00, plus applicable taxes and service charges. A limited number of free tickets for ASU students are available on a first-come, first-served basis, courtesy of your Imaginary Friends at CSI. Stop by Memorial Union on ASU Campus on October 16th and 17th to get one! You must be a currently enrolled ASU student and have an @asu.edu email address to claim a free ticket.
Be sure to arrive early to take advantage of Majestic's dining experience and get your hands on our free, limited-edition History of the Future stickers.
