  • Open to the public

The College of Health Solutions, in partnership with the Center for Law, Science and Innovation and the Center for Public Health Law and Policy, cordially invites you to How It Started vs. How It's Going: Democratizing Gene Therapy for Sickle Cell Disease.

In December 2023, the FDA approved the first two gene therapy treatments for sickle cell disease. To fully appreciate the impact of this decision, it's important to understand the long history of inequity woven throughout biomedical research, clinical care, and the social context of sickle cell disease. Mr. Bonham will explore this history in the context of where gene therapy is today and where it's going in the future.
