Invited Talk: Beyond Engagement - Four Ways to Engage

The Director of the ICAP Center for Teaching & Learning, Professor Michelene Chi, will deliver an invited talk titled “Beyond Engagement: Four Ways to Engage” at the Bridge the Gap 2025 Global Online Summit, whose theme is “Bridging the Disconnect: Redesigning Curriculum and Methods to Reignite Student Passion.” In this session, Professor Chi will introduce the ICAP framework, which helps educators around the world understand how varying levels of cognitive engagement affect student learning outcomes. The talk will explore how to design learning activities that move from Passive, to Active, to Constructive, and ultimately to Interactive forms of engagement.
