This 1991 Spanish-language Mexican drama directed by María Novaro tells the story of Julia (María Rojo), a telephone switchboard operator who takes joy in Danzón dancing. For years, she has danced every Wednesday with Carmelo (Daniel Rergis), a silent partner who disappears without a trace. Realizing how important he’s become to her, Julia goes on a journey to search for Carmelo - and herself. This event is part of The Poitier Film School Latino Screening Series, showcasing gems of Latino Cinema in partnership with Milagro Cinemas and the Mexican Consulate (Consulado General de México en Los Ángeles).
