Latino Screening Series: 'Macario'

Event description

  • Arts and entertainment

This fantastical 1960 classic was the first Mexican film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Poor, hungry peasant Macario wishes to have a good meal on the Day of the Dead. After his wife cooks him a turkey, he meets three apparitions — the Devil, God and Death — who asks him to share his meal. This event is part of The Poitier Film School Latino Screening Series, showcasing gems of Latino Cinema in partnership with Milagro Cinemas and the Mexican Consulate (Consulado General de México en Los Ángeles).
