ASU launched the Youth Protection Program on Nov. 3, 2025. To support its rollout, the Youth Protection Program Office is hosting biweekly training sessions on various youth safety topics.

It is recommended that departments and individuals who work with minors attend these training sessions

This session will provide an overview of the minors in labs and research. It will include guidance for faculty, staff and youth activity organizers who host minors in university laboratories or research spaces. 

Attendees will learn the university’s requirements for allowing minors in labs, safety protocols, supervision standards and required documentation.

Topics covered in this training session include:

  • Overview of Minors in Labs and Protection of Minors policies
  • Assessing lab suitability for minors, prohibited activities
  • Safety training and personal protective equipment 
  • Roles and responsibilities for activity managers, Environmental Health and Safety and Youth Protection Program
