Arizona State University's four campuses occupy the Salt River Valley on the unceded ancestral territories of the twenty-three Native Nations that have inhabited this land for centuries, including the Akimel O’odham (Pima) and Pee Posh (Maricopa) Indian Communities, and where many of their descendants continue to thrive. Their unique care and keeping of these lands, including their canal system, allows the metropolitan Phoenix region to thrive to this day. We deeply appreciate their vision, knowledge, expertise, and stewardship of the environment.
