NSF AI Infrastructure Hubs and Datasets Funding (Opportunity Kick Off)

Join us for an opportunity kickoff focused on two new NSF funding opportunities designed to accelerate AI-enabled scientific discovery through investments in research data and regional AI infrastructure. Unlocking Dataset Value for AI-Enabled Scientific Discovery (AI Datasets) seeks projects that increase the scientific value of existing datasets by applying AI to areas such as feature extraction, metadata generation, dataset integration, automated analysis pipelines, and data augmentation and harmonization. The program encourages interdisciplinary approaches that make high-impact scientific datasets more accessible and useful for new forms of AI-driven discovery, while addressing data security, integrity, and governance. NSF anticipates approximately $100 million in program funding and up to 50 awards, with proposals due Nov. 4, 2026. 

NSF State and Regional Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Hubs: Expanding Access to Compute for Scientific Discovery, is a major opportunity to establish state or multi-state regional consortia that expand access to the computing, data, software, expertise, and workforce capabilities needed for AI-enabled research. Hubs will bring together higher education, government, industry, and philanthropy, with NSF supporting consortium coordination, technical workforce development, faculty training, and educational activities rather than the acquisition of computing infrastructure itself. NSF anticipates 10 awards per cycle, $4-12 million over five years, and will make only one award per state or multi-state region. The first full proposal deadline is Nov. 4, 2026.
