Oscars at the MIX: ‘Citizen Kane’ screening
Event description
- Arts and entertainment
This awards season, we celebrate a film famous for not having won many of them despite being universally considered to be one of the greatest movies ever made: Orson Welles’ 1941 masterpiece “Citizen Kane.” What’s so special about this 84-year-old film, the winner of a single Oscar (and Welles’ only) for best screenplay, that is frequently cited as one of the best ever made and was among the first inducted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress? Poitier Film School professor and lover of classic cinema Joe Fortunato joins us for a special big-screen presentation of “Citizen Kane,” popping in with key insights and live commentary about the film and its significance that will make even the most ardent cinephiles appreciate the classic in a new light.
