What happens when martial arts meets motion capture during ReMix the Future: Play Attention 2026?

Join James Sypherd, GAME faculty associate and Endless Games and Learning Lab staff member, for a live demonstration exploring how motion capture technology can record and translate martial arts movement into digital environments.

Sypherd teaches AME 294: Martial Arts and Motion Capture, where students examine movement, performance and interactive media through martial arts practice and mocap technology. Drawing on 20 years of experience in Korean martial arts, he combines movement training, biomechanics and technology in his teaching and creative work.

Stop by during the Sun Devil Football Watch Party as Sypherd puts the technology into action. There may even be a sparring match with Director Pavan Turaga!

Free and open to the public.
