ReMix the Future 2026: Play Attention

Thursday, October 15 – Sunday, October 18 | Four immersive days at ASU MIX Center

What if play could change not only what we see, but how we pay attention?

ReMix the Future returns to the ASU Media and Immersive eXperience Center for four days of collaborative making, spatial storytelling and creative experimentation. This year’s theme, Play Attention, challenges participants to explore how play can spark curiosity and transform audiences from observers into active players.

Artists, designers, technologists and students from Arizona and around the world will form teams, remix creative tools and build immersive experiences with their own rules, interactions and shared realities. Projects will take shape inside two of the MIX Center’s signature venues: the four-story Enhanced Immersion Studio and The Volume, a virtual production stage built for real-time visual experiences.

• Immersive Experience: Use AI-powered workflows with Pixera to create dynamic, 360 degree design experiences (must be 18+ to register)
• Interactive Installation Design: Bring data to generative life with tools like TouchDesigner and immersive audio (must be 18+ to register)
• XR Design: Open to Mesa Public Schools high school students. Design with experts from Dreamscape Learn using tools like Unity Game Engine.

ReMix the Future will also feature special-topic workshops exploring areas such as game design, drone art, robotics and emerging media. Workshop details will be announced in September.

Signature tracks compete for awards and microcredentials and team podium recognition from an industry jury.

Applications are open to artists, designers, technologists and students ages 18 and older. A one-time $25 nonrefundable application fee is required. Space is limited and invitations are issued on a rolling basis through Sept. 30. Early applications are encouraged!
