Join the Hispanic Research Center for the second event in their Research Conexiones series.

The presentation titled, "Bad Bunny and the Imagined Geographies of Latinidad: Hybridity, Localization, and Local Identities in the U.S. Mainstream" will be given by guest presenter Luis E. Rivera Figueroa

This presentation examines how Bad Bunny constructs imagined geographies of Latinidad through his star image, using place as a central framework for articulating racial and ethnic difference in the global Latin music industry. By analyzing his star, I discuss how Bad Bunny’s star image simultaneously disrupts and reproduces hegemonic ideas of race and ethnicity in the U.S. mainstream through industrial strategies such as localization and reglocalization.

Seating is limited. Please be sure to RSVP.

Light refreshments will be provided.
