Research for Public Impact: Engaging Philanthropic Funders (Proposal Development Workshop)
Philanthropic organizations are increasingly investing in research that addresses pressing societal challenges, supports innovative ideas, and demonstrates meaningful public impact. This workshop introduces faculty to the philanthropic funding landscape, including private foundations, family foundations, and individual donors. Participants will learn how philanthropic funders identify projects for investment, how proposal expectations differ from traditional federal sponsors, and how to frame research in mission-driven, accessible language. The session will also explore strategies for cultivating relationships with development professionals and foundation representatives, positioning research for philanthropic support, and building long-term partnerships that advance research and societal impact.
