“Reverence" by Jess Tommeraasen is an MFA thesis exhibition paying homage to Fungi. It showcases a captivating display of living Reishi mushrooms, inviting viewers to venerate the wonders of this vast, enigmatic, kingdom. Through multimedia installation, this work delves into themes of interdependency, multi-species entanglements, decay and rebirth, prompting contemplation on questions of agency and ethics beyond human intelligence. Fungi demonstrate an extraordinary capacity to adapt, innovate, and collaborate, sculpting landscapes and atmospheres, nourishing soils, and facilitating the evolution of countless species through symbiotic relationships. This exhibit offers a moment to honor and marvel at the presence and beauty of fungi.
