From Sea to Sky is the culminating full-day event of the Spring 2026 initiative, which has brought together a series of hybrid panels exploring archipelagic thinking across deserts and islands. Building on these conversations, this final gathering brings scholars, artists, and writers into dialogue to examine how landscapes, ecologies, and cultures connect across environments that may initially seem distant.
By placing desert and island systems side by side, the program highlights the deep relational ties between oceans and arid terrains, species and communities, and histories of knowledge and power.
Through a series of panels, participants engage scientific, humanistic, and creative perspectives, demonstrating how interdisciplinary collaboration is central to archipelagic thinking and to understanding interconnected worlds.
The event also features an interactive poetry and art experience, inviting attendees to experiment with creative practices and reflect on these connections through collaborative making. Concluding with space for open conversation and networking, From Sea to Sky fosters dialogue, exchange, and future collaborations across disciplines.
