Research Development Opportunity Kickoffs

Research Development Opportunity Kickoff events are introductions to specific funding opportunities or resources that enhance application competitiveness. Introductions provide an overview of requirements, advice and lessons learned from experienced faculty, and a chance to network with others. Sponsored by KE Research Development.

Sloan Research Fellowships (Opportunity Kick Off)

Sloan Research Fellowships are prestigious early-career honors recognizing faculty whose creativity, independence, and research accomplishments position them to become future leaders in their fields. Awarded annually by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the two-year fellowship provides $75,000 in flexible research support to outstanding tenure-track, untenured faculty at degree-granting institutions in the United States and Canada. Eligible disciplines include chemistry, computer science, earth system science, economics, mathematics, neuroscience, physics, and closely related fields.

Candidates are nominated by department chairs or senior faculty, with each department limited to up to three nominations per fellowship field, making internal planning and selection especially important. Successful nominations emphasize a candidate's record of independent scholarship, scientific creativity, and potential for transformative contributions to their discipline, making this competition an important component of institutional faculty recognition and research excellence strategies Open Q&A time will follow the presentation.
