A Thousand Years of Jewish History: “What Happened to the Jews After 70 C.E.?”

Event description

  • Academic events
Led by Gary A. Rendsburg (Rutgers University).

About the series: From the destruction of the First Temple (586 B.C.E.) and the growing Diaspora in the centuries that followed the destruction of the Second Temple (70 C.E.), unprecedented archaeological discoveries have illuminated and brought to life the historical development of Judaism and Jewish society during this period. The evidence stems from synagogues, burial sites, archival material and more, stretching from Yemen in the southeast to Cologne in the northwest and all points in between. The picture that emerges is a vibrant Jewish history spanning the millennium, bridging the biblical and medieval periods.
