While working from anywhere can be alluring, without the skills needed to work remotely, working from anywhere can quickly turn to working from everywhere. With the increase use of remote work, understanding the pros and cons can help you to avoid some of the common pitfalls that occur. This presentation will cover the impact of remote work on young professionals, steps employees can take to engage colleagues, build connections remotely and how leaders can better engage remote employees.
Speaker Bio:
Zach Cordell is an Associate Teaching Professor at Arizona State University's College of Health Solutions, where he teaches courses on nutrition, behavior change, and cultural awareness in healthcare. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, completing his dissertation on leadership and innovation, with a focus on building connections in virtual and remote work settings. His work in nutrition, behavior change, and remote work all focus on how the environment and culture influence behaviors.
Zach earned his bachelor’s degree in nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a master’s degree in community nutrition from the University of Massachusetts. He completed his dietetic internship at Yale New Haven Hospital. He has authored a textbook on the intersection of culture and health, designed for future healthcare professionals, as well as two books exploring the relationship between faith and food. Additionally, he has experience in clinical dietetics, outpatient counseling, public speaking, content creation, and podcasting.
