Dr. Kailan Sindelar’s research explores how Augmented Reality (AR) educational designs and popular educational environmental communication apps like Wildeverse and Rewild misrepresent wildlife and their interactions. In this talk, she will discuss how these applications make little use of the technology and mostly rely on remediating other forms media, such as photography, chat logs, and documentaries.  Finally, she will share strategies for better using affordances of AR to engage with and educate users.
