The ASU Swette Center for Sustainable Food Systems is partnering with Waste Not

Did you know that between 30-40% of the food that is produced in the US is thrown away every year? And that it comes primarily from households and the retail sector such as restaurants and food service companies? This food waste significantly contributes to global warming and represents a substantial loss of natural resources used in its production. Additionally, it results in billions of dollars in economic losses, equivalent to 130 billion meals. The ASU Swette Center for Sustainable Food Systems and Waste Not are partnering to provide a lecture style Q&A workshop on innovative solutions to combat food waste.

Speakers will share success stories in previous research studies and local programs that have decreased food waste at the household and retail level. Attendees will learn simple food waste prevention strategies that can be easily applied at home, businesses, and events.
