Youth Protection Program: Emergency preparedness for youth programs

ASU launched the Youth Protection Program on Nov. 3, 2025. To support its rollout, the Youth Protection Program Office is hosting biweekly training sessions on various youth safety topics.
It is recommended that ASU faculty or staff who work with minors attend these training sessions.
This session will provide an overview of emergency preparedness in youth programs. It will equip youth activity managers and staff with the knowledge and tools to develop a comprehensive youth activity safety plan.
Attendees will learn how to establish response procedures and ensure staff are trained to act quickly and appropriately in the event of an emergency.
Topics covered in this training session include:
- The importance of emergency preparedness in youth activities
- Conducting a basic risk assessment for your activity or event
- Developing your safety plan
- Evacuation
- Reunification
- Medical emergency response
- Active assailant
- Emergency protocols
- Implementing your youth safety plan
- Training and review
