Youth Workshop: Movement Without Maps: A Civic Poem in Animation

In this collaborative workshop, participants will work with responses collected from community members in response to a shared question. Using these voices as source material, they will arrange and shape the responses into a collective poem, uncovering themes, connections, and stories across different experiences.

Participants will then bring the poem to life through stop-motion animation, using collage, drawing, found materials, and a personal object of their choosing. Moving through the surrounding grounds, participants will create visual interpretations of the poem, layering text, images, objects, and place to explore themes of migration, memory, identity, and belonging.

Using iPhones and simple animation techniques, the group will create a short collaborative film that transforms community voices into a living, visual poem. No animation experience is required.
