The two are drawn to each other by a shared history of rebellion and exile, and the mysterious woman begins to share her tale. It is a story of expulsion, forced resettlement, and the sainted creature that came to rule the woman\u2019s fate: dervish, djinn, or maybe something more monstrous.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAs the woman\u2019s tale unfurls, Sado is further entangled in its warp and weft, even as it grows clear that his companion\u2019s nature has been touched by the same hungry force of which she speaks. Her research interests include book history, history of reading, early modern English drama, and premodern critical race and gender studies.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ECora Fox is associate dean of health humanities in the John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering, director of humanities integration for ASU Health, and an associate professor in the Department of English. She has led an initiative to develop research capacity in the health humanities at ASU since 2013. Her current work focuses on the cultural histories and politics of positive emotions, as well as the role of narrative in shaping notions of care and community, particularly their exclusions.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAviva Dove-Viebahn is an associate professor in the Department of English\u0027s Film and Media Studies Program. She is a contributing editor at Ms. magazine and is responsible for its Scholar Writing Program. She has also co-written several screenplays (with Brittany K. Fonte), one of which has been produced. Her academic interests concentrate on gender, race, and representation in popular culture; contemporary visual art and media, including film and television; and the role of the spectator in the digital age.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EDan-el Padilla Peralta is a Professor of Classics in ASU\u0027s School of International Letters and Cultures.
