A native of Caguas, Puerto Rico, she earned her doctorate in communication ethics at the University of Illinois and writes on blindness, knowledge and human dignity, including her 2022 essay \u0022Blindness as Empeiria.\u0022 She served six years on the Guide Dogs for the Blind Alumni Association Board and was the 2025 Keynote Speaker for Disability Awareness Week in Kent County, Michigan. In his administrative role, he directs the Prindle Institute\u2019s digital and educational strategy and leads key national engagement initiatives and partnerships. In his faculty role, he teaches innovative and service-driven courses in ethics and political philosophy for DePauw undergraduates. Richardson\u2019s research interests lie at the intersections of political philosophy and the philosophy of education, and focus on moral and civic education, the development of key democratic and intellectual virtues, and the value (both theoretical and practical) of civility and other nearby dispositions. Richardson serves on the Board of Directors of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) and as chair of the American Philosophical Association\u0027s Committee on Pre-College Philosophy. He also sits on the APPE Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl Council and Steering Committee as well as the National High School Ethics Bowl Advisory Board. In his local community, he serves as Chair of the Board of Directors at Indy Pride. In the face of this challenge, how might we reckon honestly with the reality of climate change without being debilitated by despair?\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn this talk, Michael Lamb, a scholar of leadership, character, and hope, analyzes two competing temptations in a time of climate change: presumption among those who deny the crisis and despair among those who worry we\u2019ve done too little too late to avert catastrophe. Lamb challenges both temptations by defending a vision of hope as an ecological virtue. The Los Angeles Times reported that \u201cKlay transcends his self-description as \u2018a writer who was once a Marine and writes about war\u2019 to become more of a philosopher.
