His research interests involve physical surface and subsurface hydrology, floods, climate science and hydrologic impacts, plant water relations and ecohydraulics. Current research projects focus on Amazon rainforest ecohydrology; climate change and hydrometeorological impacts on reindeer herding in the Arctic; and the development of novel, hybrid first-principles / machine-learning frameworks for fast, real-time assessment of flooding impacts for decision-making. His education includes: 1996 - Diploma in Hydrology obtained at Moscow State University, Russia; 2002 - M.S. and 2006 - Ph.D. obtained at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, U.S. In 2006, he pursued Ziff Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Center for the Environment, Harvard University and, in 2007, he began a faculty position at the University of Michigan.

Register for both in-person and virtual participation.

"ticketing_rsvp_txt2":"
https://specialevents.asu.edu/ereg/newreg.php?eventid=894063&","ticketing_rsvp_url2":"
asuwaterinstitute@asu.edu
https://asuevents.asu.edu/sites/g/files/litvpz3506/files/2026-09/Climate%26WaterFutures_Ivanov-2%20%283%29.png
Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory - The Water Institute|Rob Walton College of Global Futures|School of Complex Adaptive Systems|Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory|Ira A.
