Join The Poitier Film School for an evening with Stephen Rivkin, ACE. The Academy Award and BAFTA nominated editor, who worked with James Cameron on his international blockbuster “Avatar” and won an Eddie Award for his work on “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” showcases examples from his storied career to illustrate the power of editing and creative problem solving in storytelling.

The short film "Hello Maggie!" illuminates the love and friendship between a bird named Maggie and a little boy, Shig, during his family’s survival at the WWII Heart Mountain internment camp in Wyoming. Based on a children’s book of the same name by Shigeru Yabu, the true story is brought to life by Walt Disney and Hanna-Barbera animator Willie Ito and informed by his own experiences in the internment camps.  Ito will be in person to discuss the film.
