Join us for a thought-provoking discussion with CSRC Faculty Affiliate Güneş Murat Tezcür on his latest book, “Liminal Minorities: Religious Difference and Mass Violence in Muslim Societies.” Through the lens of predominantly Muslim societies, Tezcür examines why certain minority groups are perceived as threats and thus become targets of violence—not only by governments but also within their communities. His research sheds light on the forces that compel ordinary people to commit mass violence, challenging us to rethink how and why such atrocities happen.

Center affiliates Shahla Talebi and Evan Berry will join the conversation to offer responses to Tezcür’s ideas and the cases he explores.
