In Mozart's comic masterpiece COSI FAN TUTTE ("So Do They All") or THE SCHOOL FOR LOVERS, an aging philosopher tries to teach two young couples a lesson in fidelity, forgiveness, and the foibles of human nature. Based on an actual incident at the Viennese court during the 18th century, two young soldiers accept a wager on the fidelity of their fiancées. The soldiers disguise their identities and attempt to woo each other's sweetheart with the help of the girls' mischievous maidservant, bringing about both hilarious and heartbreaking consequences for all involved. Set to some of Mozart's most elegant and sublimely beautiful music, this production is updated to the Edwardian period in Naples, Italy, and is a must for Mozart lovers, as well as fans of the popular PBS mini-series DOWNTON ABBEY with its comedic and touching look at life and love both "upstairs" and 'downstairs."
Music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte; sung in Italian (with English supertitles); stage direction by Dale Dreyfoos; musical direction by William Reber.
