Curated by Mary Hood, associate professor at the ASU School of Art, Map(ing) brought together 25 Native and Indigenous artists with graduate students to produce a series of special, limited-edition prints around Native aesthetics, culture and identity.
Featured artists include Yolanda Hart Stevens, Marilou Schultz, Jason Garcia, Ahkima Honyumptewa, Dana Claxton, Nicholas Galanin, Steven Yazzie, Eliza Naranjo Morse, Randy Kemp, Hulleah J. Tsinhnahjinnie, Dallin Maybee, Wanesia Misquadace, Sarah Sense, C. Maxx Stevens, Warren Montoya, Thomas Greyeyes, Craig Kelly, Rowan Harrison, Tom Jones, John Feodrov, Cannupa Hanska Luger, Brenda Mallory and Hannah Clause.
Ready to visit? Map(ing) is available to view at the Step Gallery during regular hours Thursday through Saturday, March 4–20, 12 to 5 p.m. Phoenix MST at 605 E Grant St, Phoenix, AZ 85004. You can also see the exhibition at an opening reception on First Friday, March 5 and a closing reception on Third Friday, March 19.

Mary Hood, originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is currently an associate professor of art and printmaking at Arizona State University. As part of her teaching philosophy, Mary uses printmaking to focus on community-affiliated projects such as RIPPLE (2005), for Hurricane Katrina evacuees in Arizona, DITTO (2006), a public art project and Map(ing) (2009-2019), a collaborative project between Native artists and ASU graduate students.
