The digital world has opened realms of Indigenous comic books and zines to the public through visual components in both print and digital art. The ability to author our own stories has given us the power to dismantle stereotypes and make room for visibility amongst Indigenous communities in art and activism. Join the Labriola Center on Friday, Sept, 8, 2023 for an Indigenous Comic Book Workshop with artist and educator, Kayla Shaggy!
On Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Labriola National American Indian Data Center invites you to join another “Movement is Medicine” session at the Sun Devil Fitness Center on West campus in room MP3 (3rd floor) with Waylon Pahona Jr. (Hopi & Tewa/Maricopa) and his partner, Johanna Herrera (Mayan).
These sessions will provide an overview of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship program, which provides undergraduates up to $5,000 to support study abroad during the summer, spring, or fall semesters.
Offered to students who receive Pell Grants.
