The ASU Department of English invites students, faculty, and staff in any of its programs to this online co-writing session. The Parallel Writing Group is organized to create a community around writing. Online groups are hosted on the first and third Fridays of each month (with two exceptions: 02/20 and 03/06) via Zoom.

All meetings will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; feel free to join us at any point during that timeframe.

This talk examines disparate phenomena like Mark Carney’s unexpected political appeal and the exaggerated “Russian lip flip” trend among social media influencers to argue that contemporary politics and digital culture thrive on dopamine-driven attraction — fleeting, addictive sensations that bypass critical engagement. Just as dopaminic media appeals, so too does it foreclose the capacity to launch an appeal.

This dynamic virtual workshop is for those who are curious about fashion, creativity, and visual storytelling. You’ll learn how to bring ideas to life through illustration, explore expressive drawing techniques, and build confidence in your creative voice, all guided by ASU FIDM faculty!

No fancy supplies needed, just a pen, paper, and your imagination. Whether you’ve never drawn before or just want to try something new, this is a fun way to explore fashion illustration from anywhere.
