2020 Galbut Prize Exhibition
Martin and Cynthia Galbut are artists and art collectors whose love of art spans throughout history from Asian Art to American Tonalism and Contemporary Western American Landscape painting. The Galbut Prize is patterned after the Henry Ward Ranger prize which was established at the National Academy of Design and aimed at recognizing and supporting young talent. The Galbut Prize is an annual award that includes a $1,500 purchase prize juried by a rotating member of the community. This competitive prize will be awarded to an outstanding work created by one of ASU’s School of Art MFA students, which will then become part of the ASU permanent art collection and be displayed in a highly visible location on the Tempe campus.
The 2020 Galbut Prize Exhibition features the work of Madoka Clark, Ryan Eckert, Sophyia Haynes, Caroline Hubbell, Danika Kartchner, Min Kyu Kim, Thomas Knight, Lucas Knowles, Erin Kuhn, Christopher Luper, Hanna Makonnen, Charles Rothgeb, Luke Watson and Lisa Zirbel. This year's juror is Michelle Dock, visual arts curator, Tempe Center for the Arts. Join the artists for the opening reception on Tuesday, March 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.
