Harry Wood Gallery is pleased to present "In Proximity," the 2021 Winter BFA Exhibition. This annual exhibition features work by BFA students from multiple disciplines, including animation, ceramics, painting and drawing, intermedia, photography, printmaking, sculpture and textiles. This year's iteration is juried by ASU alum Kristin Bauer.
Opening Reception: Tuesday, Dec. 7, 5–8 p.m.
The exhibition is available for viewing during regular gallery hours, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., and is closed on weekends and major holidays. Please note that the gallery closes for lunch from noon–1 p.m.
Kristin Bauer is a multimedia artist born in Minnesota and currently based in Arizona, with professional and educational background in writing, psychology and art. Her recent public activating projects include Counter/Balance, a sculpture and performance art piece at Franconia Sculpture Park, MN, Pilot Projects at Arizona State University Art Museum, Enduring Apocalypse performance art event at the Abrons Art Center, NY, “Untitled Gestures,” a solo text art installation across on the front of Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and a Field Projects program at the ICA LA beginning a pedagogical and installation collaborative program, Collective Chorus. Bauer’s recent exhibitions include the “TEXT Show” at CMAY Gallery, Los Angeles, “Cutting Edges” at Cheryl Hazan Gallery in Tribeca, New York, exhibitions at WhiteBox Harlem, NY and Ethan Cohen KuBe, Beacon, NY. Bauer’s artwork has been shown internationally, including the TransBorder Biennial, El Paso Museum of Art, TX; El Museo de Ciudad Juarez, Mexico; Espacio Fundación Telefónica, Santiago, Chile; and Nicholas Projects, Melbourne, Australia, among others. Upcoming exhibitions in 2023 include Phoenix Art Museum and SMoCA, in addition to the publication of her first book with Hirmer Verlag. She lives in Tempe, AZ with her husband, artist Emmett Potter and their children, Lilliana and Artemis Bauer-Potter.
