ASU Legal Method and Writing Innovative Ideas for Advanced Legal Writing

This is a Zoom event. We are hosting a series of short workshops to present ideas for innovations in upper level legal writing courses.

Workshop #1: Friday, Sept. 16: Innovative Ideas for Advanced Legal Writing Courses. This workshop will feature panelists that have created unique and innovative upper level writing courses.

Workshop #2: Friday, Oct. 21: Innovative Ideas within Traditional Advanced Legal Writing Courses. This workshop will feature panelists that are incorporating unique and creative assignments, exercises, or methods to introduce concepts in traditional advanced legal writing courses.

  • Kirsten Davis, professor of law; co-director, Institute for the Advancement of Legal Communication; faculty director, Online Legal Education Strategies, Stetson University College of Law
  • Tessa Dysart, assistant director of legal writing and clinical professor of law, University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law
  • Susan Chesler, clinical professor of law, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Arizona State University
  • Sarah Ricks, distinguished clinical professor of law, Rutgers Law School

Workshop #3: Friday, Nov. 18: Innovative Ideas Forum. This workshop will allow attendees to present ideas that they would like to implement in their own advanced legal writing courses (this is the only session that requires advanced registration). Facilitators will help guide a discussion where attendees can present teaching ideas (half-baked ideas are welcome) and receive peer feedback.
