Buzz about Bees
Bees are responsible for the production of 70% of the fruits, nuts and vegetables humans eat on a daily basis. In fact, one in three bites of food we take on any given day was probably helped along by a bee somewhere — an alarming statistic when we consider that bee populations are declining worldwide due to the loss of biodiversity and the destruction of habitat as a result of industrial agriculture, the existence of parasites and pathogens and climate change.
Part of the seed library initiative, this ASU Library exhibit takes a look at what we can do on an individual and community level to help protect bees and biodiversity. (Spoiler: The number one thing? Urban gardening.)
This exhibit is free and open to the public.
