The Daughter of the Regiment presented by Music Theatre and Opera

The Daughter of the Regiment

Donizetti’s comic and endearing opera follows Marie, the adopted daughter of the 21st Regiment of the French army, who has fallen in love with Tonio, a young soldier from an enemy nation. Fortunately, the regiment accepts Tonio when they hear that he saved Marie’s life. The two love each other and plan to wed, but a wrench is thrown into their plans when news about Marie’s birth family arises and she must leave the regiment. Tonio resolves to rescue Marie with the aid of the other soldiers, but will he be successful? With its lovely melodies, vocal fireworks and quick wit, "La Fille du Régiment" is the perfect piece to brighten your day. Performed in French with supertitles. Dialogue will be in English.
