Duo Gelland: Violin Duo
The Swedish-German violin duo Duo Gelland (Cecilia Gelland &andMartin Gelland) is known for their contemporary exploration of the 18th century concept. Their interest is to build archives and repertoire of forgotten historical violin duos while simultaneously commissioning new works by living composers.
They have performed numerous internationally renowned venues, including: Berliner Philharmonie, NorrlandsOperan, Tonhalle Zürich and Stokholm Concert Hall.
Among the many awards they have received include the Annual German Record Critic’s Award (2008), Swedish Nutida Sound (2011), Fanfare Yearbook (2001), and Interpreter’s Prize of the Society of Swedish Composers. They have also received over 200 dedicated works by living composers and currently serve as ensemble in residence with the Composers Collective 113 in Minneapolis, an organization founded in 2012 that has already presented over 50 world premiers by composers such as Brian Ferneyhough, Chaya Czernowin, Michael Pisaro and James Dillon.
