Eileen Standley's and Melissa Britt's "Jai Ma"

Jai Ma is a collaborative performance about pregnancy

Choreographer Eileen Standley collaborates with dancer, choreographer and mother-to-be Melissa Britt in her 34th week of pregnancy to create a probable live performance, “probable” due to the dancer’s impending due date. The expectant mother’s body poignantly articulates the accretion of time, rhythm in movement, space and our human geography.

Both Standley and Britt teach in the ASU School of Film, Dance and Theatre.

This piece is presented in conjunction with "Energy Charge: Connecting to Ana Mendieta," an exhibition on view at the ASU Art Museum Sept. 24–Dec. 31.
