Eliza Weber: Somewhere Over (Extended)

Eliza Weber, Somewhere Over, MFA Thesis Exhibition

Step Gallery is pleased to present "Somewhere Over," a MFA Thesis Exhibition by Eliza Weber.

"Somewhere Over" explores the phenomena of the rainbow. It questions a two sidedness in the overlap between reality and fantasy. An illusion of the otherside encourages the hopeful while alongside a latent disillusion for betterment. These dualities look for an understanding of the bittersweet. Works are made from the discarded and damaged; tended to from yesterdays, mended for tomorrows. These acts of reparations examine value structures determined by consumerism and trend with intention of understanding and resolve. Parts deemed waste are reworked, transforming individuals into a more connected collective. Objects conjure memory, store sentimentality and negotiate worth. Connections to the inanimate may reveal brighter forthcomings to ourselves, others and our planet, as light bends color somewhere over all darkness.
