Global Advocacy Certificate Program 2021-2022: Spring 2022 FOUNDATIONS OF GLOBAL ADVOCACY
WORKSHOP 5—Foundations of Global Advocacy (Required course, spring offering)
Tuesday, January 18, 2022 10 a.m.–noon
Participants will become familiarized with the GACP by understanding ASU’s international population, its vision for and efforts in internationalization, and strategies for advocating for and engaging CLD students. Participants will build Cultural Intelligence (CI) through understanding the capabilities of Cultural Openness, Cultural Awareness and Cultural Responsiveness.
ABOUT THE GACP
The Global Advocacy Certificate Program (GACP) is for ASU faculty and staff who desire to cultivate a globally-minded campus. Participants will broaden their awareness of intercultural topics and learn specific strategies for supporting culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students and scholars in the classroom and workplace to promote a more diverse community for all.
All ASU faculty and staff—including GACP certificate holders—are invited to attend workshops for ongoing learning, regardless of their intentions to receive a certificate. Participation will be recorded as professional development training on ASU’s Career Edge.
BECOME A GLOBAL ADVOCATE
To earn a certificate as a Global Advocate, participants must register for and attend the Foundations of Global Advocacy core course plus at least three elective courses during an academic year. All courses are free of charge and fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants can earn certificates every year.
Participants in GACP Workshops will increase:
- awareness of campus resources for CLD students, staff and faculty.
- practical strategies to serve as resources for CLD students.
- proficiencies to identify and navigate cultural and linguistic diversity.
