Issues & Answers Forum: Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana

The Sandra Day O'Connor Institute, in collaboration with the ASU Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, the ASU Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and the Maricopa County Bar Association, proudly presents the Issues & Answers Forum, featuring credentialed panelists to provide fact-based information for ballot measures on the November 8th ballot. The September 13th Forum will focus on the regulation and taxation of marijuana.

The moderator will be Brahm Resnik of NBC affiliate KPNX. The panel will include two national experts and two Arizonans, including:

Mark Kleiman, PhD, the director of the Crime and Justice Program at NYU's Marron Institute of Urban Management. Kleiman is an expert in the field of crime and drug policy and is the author of several books in the field. He advises local, state, national, and international governmental bodies on crime control and drug policy.

Ashley Kilroy, executive director of Marijuana Policy for the city of Denver. Kilroy recommends, administers and implements medical and retail marijuana policies for Denver. She oversees and coordinates all marijuana-related activities of various city agencies, employees, boards and commissions.

Ryan Hurley, a partner and director of Rose Law Group’s medical marijuana practice group, is a founding member of the National Cannabis Industry Association. He earned his bachelor’s degree in environmental science, and his J.D. in 2005, from The University of Arizona.

Bill Montgomery is a Maricopa County attorney, a West Point Graduate, decorated Gulf War Veteran, former Deputy County Attorney and a professional prosecutor. Montgomery earned his J.D. from ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, graduating magna cum laude and receiving the Order of the Coif.
