Louise Fisher: 'LUCID: A Year in Dreams'
Exhibition runs March 25-29. Opening reception 6 to 8 p.m. March 26.

Referring to luminosity and a conscious awareness of dreaming, "Lucid" — an exhibition of mixed-media prints, artist books, photographic documentation, and a magic lantern installation — investigates how light affects our sleep cycles. "Lucid" is centered on a year-long project in which the artist took long exposure photographs while sleeping each night. Fisher’s mixed-media prints integrate digital and traditional techniques, giving a surreal effect of the photographic and hand-drawn. Collages of illuminated windows in vast skyscapes create a mesmerizing interaction of shadow, light, and color on translucent paper. Touching on biological and psychological impacts of light pollution, "Lucid" contemplates how to rest in a 24/7 LED world.
