Lucas Knowles: ON BECOMING OBLIVION

"//ON_BECOMING_OBLIVION" is an MFA thesis Exhibition by Lucas J Knowles, a graduate student at ASU’s School of Art. With his work, Knowles leads viewers through an existential exploration of human ontology, replication, memory and decay. "//ON_BECOMING_OBLIVION" transforms Phoenix’s Step Gallery at Grant Street Studios into a simulated laboratory/testing ground with interactive artwork. Within the gallery, viewers can use their smartphones to access “Data Logs” created by the artist — which includes images, stories and thoughts related to the art on display. The reception on Dec. 3, 6–9 p.m. will feature a live performance involving a massive 25-ton gantry crane and a small paintbrush.
