Necati Çelik Master of the Turkish ud

Join us for a performance by Necati Çelik, Master of the Turkish ud.

Necati Çelik is the Roberta Bowman Denning visiting artist in residency at the Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies at Stanford University. He is one of the foremost performers of the ud (or oud), a fretless lute popular throughout the Middle East and beyond. Known for his unparalleled artistry in interpreting the classics of Turkey’s urban art music tradition, he comes to ASU to offer an intimate concert.
