Paper Planes

May 20-Aug. 10

This event last occurred Aug. 10, 2019

The Vault Gallery at the Downtown Phoenix campus Library is featuring “Paper Planes,” an exhibit of the work of Jeff Del Nero. His current paintings are of mixed media on various sized panels in the form of college-ruled binder paper. It’s a visual reference to the time in his life when mark making was unencumbered by worldly awareness.

The materials and processes used on these panels seek to conceptually contrast a simpler relationship between the artist and paper of the past. Considering the relationship to expanded versions of this common form of paper suggests a new way to experience his doodles and visual references. He asks us to wrestle with these combinations in hopes that you may find their associations yield playful interpretation.

Del Nero, who hails from a small town in Central California, has lived and worked in Arizona as an artist and educator for the past 25 years. He has an undergraduate degree in Painting and Drawing from CSU Fullerton and an MFA in Visual Art from Azusa Pacific University.

He has been included in the Arizona Biennial at the Tucson Museum of Art, along with shows around Phoenix, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Frankfurt, Germany. Most recently, his work was included in a show called “Shared Vision” at the Inland Empire Museum of Art in California.

The exhibit will be on display during regular library hours through Aug.10. For more information on the artist’s work, go to his website:
