In collaboration with the Arizona Biomedical Research Center, the W. P. Carey School of Business at ASU is hosting the third annual Arizona Business and Health Summit (ABHS). The summit is a place for researchers, clinicians, practitioners, public policymakers, and community partners to advance business and health throughout Arizona through increased collaboration.

The conference is a not-to-be-missed event: A full day focusing on the discovery environment in Arizona for those conducting and using health- and business-related research.

Arizona Business and Health Summit focus areas for 2024

The 2024 Arizona Business and Health Summit explores factors impacting the goal of innovation for value in the health sector — essentially, more significant benefits to patients at lower costs. Investment firms, entrepreneurs, and biomedical sector companies are going through challenging times to meet healthcare provision goals in an environment of conflicting pressures. Demands emanating from the COVID-19 supply chain disruptions, a changing policy environment, resulting pressures from regulations, such as the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, and continued cost escalation test conventional strategies across the care delivery ecosystem and its upstream resource-producing organizations.

Presenters will discuss strategies employed in the face of challenging healthcare reimbursement schemes, stakeholder expectations, and heightened concern for preparedness and resilience. Speakers will present case studies of innovations for value, and attendees will participate in roundtable discussions. We'll gear these activities toward developing a framework to:

  1. Influence value enhancement for the patient, for whom value relates to improved health.
  2. Influence value enhancement for investors who, depending on their role, seek a return on the capital transferred.
  3. Meet continued challenges associated with health maintenance/prevention.
  4. Consider the clinician's role in moving toward value.
  5. Craft a population view of health.

Sessions during the day will prepare you to:

  • Learn how the construct "value" is interpreted and motivates entities across the healthcare ecosystem to take action.
  • Understand factors impacting innovation for value in the health sector.
  • Understand how investors assess innovative products and processes and the likelihood of success in the choice of strategies and implementation.
  • Become an orchestrator of change by recognizing the importance of innovators, clinicians, and providers partnering with innovators, clinicians, and providers ring to inform needed innovation.
  • Craft a framework for development plans to ensure successful development and adoption of innovation.
